Jinrui Minna Kyodai – “We are all Brothers”
Literal Translation: “We are all brothers” (Jinrui = Mankind;
Minna = everyone; Kyoudai = brothers [& sisters])
Overview: When it all comes down to it, we are all the same. We are brothers
(and sisters).
Details/Background:
The phrase “Jinrui Minna Kyoudai” was
popularized in old public service announcement TV commercials in the 70’s
and 80’s to
promote world peace. It is still quoted today by many peaceniks in Japan.
Other infamous public service announcements from that time period include
phrases like: “be
good to your mother and father”; and from another shirt in our collection: “do
one good deed per day”.
