Kankoukyaku Desu – “I’m a Tourist”
Literal Translation: “I’m a tourist” (Kankoukyaku = “tourist”;
Desu = “…I am”)
Overview: Do you feel like a tourist wherever you go? If so, you are a “kankoukyaku”.
Details/Background: “Kankoukyaku Desu” is simply the regular way
of saying “I am a tourist” in Japanese, but we just thought that
it would be fun to put on a t-shirt. There are no hidden meanings or nuance
to this phrase at all. Wear this in Japan and people may come up asking if
you need help or directions.
