Debusen – “Fat Fetish”
Literal Translation: “Fat Fetish” (Debu = slang for “fat
person”; Sen = “Specialist in...”)
Overview: OK, so you might not have a fat fetish, but isn’t that pig
cute? Also a great ice breaker for meeting Japanese people! If a Japanese
person sees you wearing this shirt, they will no doubt laugh hysterically
(or possibly avoid your gaze – depending on what you look like).
Details/Background:
Fetishes in Japan are rampant and quite strange (fetishes for
used stocking or underwear come to mind). If there is a fetish out there
that you have
heard of, there is likely a Japanese crowd who enjoys it as well. Therefore
it should
come as no surprise that the land of Sumo should have a fat fetish crowd
as well (there was even a “Debusen Magazine” published some 20 years
ago).
